But of course: half a mattress appears in the middle of nowhere.

At one corner, an empty bottle, an action figure, and bicycle reflectors. I had been thinking about buying bicycle reflectors to help me back into our driveway at night, so I took those.

Later on in the walk, this. All a little…off.

I cut open a squash, itself from a volunteer plant, to discover it starting all over again.

The next day, an equally enthusiastic onion.
Must be spring.

On the dog walk yesterday, there was suddenly a flurry of interest by the dogs, but no grabbing, chewing, or rolling. Just a fresh, disemboweled chicken carcass in the middle of nowhere. Syd thought I should show its location with a map photo, but no, trust me. Middle. Of. Nowhere.
Best guess is that it became a raptor feast.

…everything flash froze (-17.78°C), but just for a little bit.
Funny how I don’t remember it.


This is the lovely and scenic Solís Chico in Parque del Plata. My snapshots don’t do it justice. There are plenty of birds, and boats when it’s a little warmer. We were there recently for the 87th birthday of a friend with Alzheimer’s in a care home opposite. What a great location!

As we left, though, I couldn’t help but notice the distinctly different feel of the courtyard behind.

Flying to Qatar to cheer on Uruguay at the 2022 World Cup. And no, I didn’t win a candy basket some fifth grader sold me raffle tickets for.
