I like our local church. I don’t know what denomination it is, nor do I care. I also like that there are not many more. Just as I liked Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, for the fact that it had no cathedral in the main square, extremely rare in Mexico.

Further road destruction

The very next day, even further destruction from the detoured buses.

Road repair and destruction

bus-road-1

What do you get when you divert buses in order to repair the road they’ve destroyed?

bus-road-2

Different destroyed roads.

2013 Bodega Garzón Sauvignon Blanc

Thanks to Shiba Sommelier for permission to repost:

Guys, I’m super psyched about this Sauvignon Blanc from Uruguay! Can you tell? Green pepper, grass, white peach, and lime rind on the nose. Lots of nectarines, white peaches, and lime rind on the palate with nice, crisp acidity.

Snow in Uruguay!

snow

OK, so it didn’t fall from the sky; the peril of not having a frost-free freezer in a place where the relative humidity rarely dips below 60%.

Moldy lumber

More rain. Too much rain this year. (1)(2)(3)

In my makeshift workshop, compare the effects of a wet winter on pine (with curiously mold-repelling knot) and eucalyptus.

Dusk perspective

sunshadows

Interesting change of perspective: instead of radiating from the sun, shadows converge away from it.
