An inquisitive old fart with a camera
Photos for their own sake. No particular context.
“Thanksgiving” potluck late lunch at Jerry’s hotel including Uruguayans, Canadians, and South Africans as well as Americans. Quite a feat to organize (I didn’t) and fun to get together with some people we haven’t seen in a while.
And then this visual treat on the sand-covered patio:
It’s quite an interesting experience, shopping in the feria when one minute you linger undercover after making a purchase to stay dry, and just a few minutes later the sun is blinding bright.
But it’s al worth it when you get to see a double rainbow (arco iris in Spanish), if only for a few short moments.
From two nights ago:
Hot sun, relatively cool breeze, and welcome episodes of shade thanks to the puffy clouds. Beach jammed, but dogs found nothing to chase in the bush (they missed a couple of little lizards that we spotted).
Sometimes uneventful walks are just fine.
I do love the sky here in Uruguay. Rarely polluted with aerial spraying so common in North America and Europe.
Those are our avocado trees — looking for a bounteous harvest this year, Hod willin.’
After days of clear blue skies, their mood has definitely changed:
The rain-darkened stump provided a nice contrast to the fresh bits brought up from the center by the ants. Very difficult to see, even live, but they were there working.
This actually appeared two nights ago; bumped because of wanting to record the first frost of the year. If ever a cloud looked like a creature with a purpose, this would be it.
