Look on my works, ye mighty

Only very tangentially related, but ran across this bit of awesomeness today (computer animation of destruction of Pompeii).

Conspicuous in its absence

What’s wrong with this picture?

no-buoy

The answer lies in what is not there.

dead-dog

A bit further down the beach, another dead dog, half buried. Second one in six weeks. I hope this doesn’t become a trend.

Little — well, not so little — SpinkyFace was a little spooked by it.

A new beach tuoy

I spotted this a couple days ago:

Weirdest yet DTOTB

Lots of people enjoying the sun this afternoon, though one stretch a bit empty, obviously because of the Dead Thing On The Beach.

dog1

Which turns out to be a large, slightly bloated dog.

dog2

How did it die? Where did it come from?

Where there’s smoke

I watered the yard today for the first time in a little while. I was surprised how dry everything was. I gave it all a good soaking.

Alas, the same can’t be said for the wooded areas east of here….
