Dead Things On The Beach (DTOTB)
OK, presumed dead. I let it be.
Dead things on the beach
Forgot to turn off the flash
But I like it 😉
New beach steps
It’s been many months since I’ve been to the beach – surprised to see a whole new structure built to protect the dunes.
Quite elaborately done, in fact. The first ones they did were generally a disaster. They’ve learned.
You can find my past posts about the dune boardwalks here.
Major drain work
New culverts on the Playa Mansa now that tourist season is over. I only knew there was a problem from walking the dog on the beach there once in the past year.
Note the raging surf. Quite amazing to have no waves when the closest landfall looking this direction is over 3,000 kilometers away.
Hot.
Hot today. This in the shade in our back yard.
Very few people on the beach midday (considerably more at 6 PM when I drove by again). Except for the utter lack of waves, the river that doesn’t flow* looked like an ocean with that extremely rare blue hue today.
*for the locals, the estuary of the Rio de la Plata is a river. Don’t even try…it’s non-negotiable.
Beach on unusual Christmas eve
Christmas eve, southern hemisphere — usually a scorcher here. This year, not quite. By a long shot, in fact.
Dead sea turtle
Another dead turtle (link to 10 April), which I only saw because I went a block east en route to the beach because I intersected with someone going my usual route with two apparently-not-friendly dogs on leashes. This one about 1.5 m long.
Dead sea turtle
It has been a while since I’ve seen interesting dead things on the beach. Yesterday’s was a good-sized sea turtle.
A young boy came over and started explaining something, but I could not make head or tail of what he was saying. Rioplatense Spanish can be pretty brutal, even more so when spoken by kids.
