Hey there!

An inquisitive old fart with a camera

Our energetic and industrious neighbor Álvaro submitted a proposal to some coastal development government organization, and encouraged enough of us to vote for it that we got funding for more playground equipment and tables in our little local park, which has gone from being an empty pass-through lot with a few tree identification signs to a destination for families with kids.

I can’t wait to see what kids invent to do with this one—supposed to be like stairs I suppose. Just seems like all kinds of ways to get hurt. I don’t think you’d see this in nanny North America (which excludes Mexico).

A double-decker (wooden!) slide.

This place is going to be busy as the weather gets warmer!

A new table has joined two previously there, as has one on the far side of the park.
All very impressive.

I saw this Fusca today.

I probably should have just kept walking, because the artwork on the side has been haunting me since. Two upside-down spark plugs? Custom culture? Keep traditions?
I’m wondering if it’s like t-shirt designs with Japanese or Chinese characters that used to be popular, perhaps until people figured out they had absolutely no idea what message they were promoting.
Custom Keep Traditions Culture? I just need to let this one go….

“Make your own system.” OK: how about one where clinics and hospitals figure out that germs (or bacteria, or “viruses”) do not cause disease, and drop that disproved hypothesis? And stop generating tons of toxic waste every day out of fear of “germs?” I could go for that.

This is the parking deck (there’s much more parking under the building) at Tienda Inglesa in Atlántida yesterday afternoon. 15 out of 40 or so available parking spaces were blocked off for people showing off their Alfa Romeos, at least one of which might have qualified as antique.
What is the thinking here?
(BTW, today noticed that the foolish plastic “covid” shields have been removed from the cashier aisles in Tienda Inglesa!)

When you have an account with (literally) no friends, Facebook is apparently left grasping at matchmaking straws.

Go ahead – make it add up! (The sum is correct.)
Need a hint?

Lines 5 & 6….
Not a common occurrence in coastal Uruguay! This was a few days ago. I abruptly stopped shooting in order to turn the glass table on its side, because….

I guess the wind had been blowing from all directions, causing a small piece of grass to trace circles. The first thing I did when I saw this was to shoot my left arm out to prevent the dog Lea from walking on it, as she does whenever she sees me focusing on something, be it pattern, beetle, snake….

OK, here we go: try to make sense of this! Clue: it’s from a produce stand (and is in Spanish, of course).
