Cool trick! Now try to get it back out.
I’m not worried about that. I have lost a small amount to the Bitgrail exchange, which turned out to be a scam. Other than that, my only w/d problem has been with Poloniex, an American exchange I no longer use. Though I sent them a photo with enough resolution that you could see individual eyelashes, they claimed my selfie was not good enough quality for verification, so limited my daily withdrawals. It took a couple of weeks to be done with them.
These exchanges are so full of BS that Jan 3 “proof of keys” may be their undoing and possibly the undoing of many of their customers. We’ll see.
I hadn’t heard about January 3 – not following crypto news so assiduously these days – but did withdraw BTC from Bibox, Bittrex, and Binance exchanges yesterday with no problem. And every other coin/token I can store locally…mostly dribs and drabs, but all arriving very quickly.
Wise move. HitBTC (Hong Kong based) wobbled and may go down. They froze withdrawals 2 days ahead and called the owners of the BTC, who were trying to move their own coins, a “flash mob.”
Interesting – ! I did open an account at HitBTC at some point, but in my records have long flagged it as bogus. Whether I was tipped off, or perhaps the site simply didn’t work, I don’t recall. Unlike a bank, there should be absolutely no reason for an exchange to freeze withdrawals, unless they’re stealing funds or leveraging them somehow.
