In a country where fuel costs are among the highest in the world, and where the cost of anything with a motor is 50-500% more expensive than in the United States, someone thinks it a great idea to fly a plane blaring 15-second audio advertisements. 15 seconds because the plane is too fast for anything more.
That's where this was coming from yesterday? I thought it was the usual blaring motorcycle-based loudspeakers. Loco!
They still do that? They used to do it when I was a kid. They would also equip a small pick up truck with a couple of loud speakers, blaring local adverts to the population, which was a lot more modern than the old guy with a… some kind of a horn, who would stop at my old town intersections and scream his adverts to the four winds. That has probably disapeared, though… pity!
Oh, still going strong: see https://expatinuruguay.com/2013/04/19/you-dont-need-a-harley-to-make-noise-on-two-wheels/
Ha, ha ,ha !! I really had a good laugh watching the guy in a Harley. As a matter of fact I recall seeing something similar in my home town some years ago. They guy riding the bike must wear ear plugs, though, on account of the stereo racket. I saw the same kind of airplane advertising you mentioned before over the beach community where I was in Argentina, a place called “Las Toninas (The Dolphins).
