300 vertical meters above Cusco, Perú, a stone wall. A big stone wall. One of many.
How big? Those are full grown human beings.
Who built it? No idea.
How did they build it? No idea.
When did they build it? Apparently before the cataclysm. Here is the top of a nearby structure, hundred-ton monolith, that ended upside down. Takes a pretty big earthquake to do that! This caraclysmic event perhaps occurred around 12,000 years ago.
One more thing: in the year 2016, our “advanced” society is completely incapable of doing this type of stonework, or anything like it.
My memory of this site has faded, but understandable as I saw it in a rush because I was ailing. I do not recall that immense upside down bit at all. I do remember the big wall mostly, but that other piece is fantastic.
Wonderful,
you are soooooooo lucky !!!
No rain , no fog , just sunshine !!!
When I was there it was cold, rainy, overcast,
not very good for the photographs – BUT –
still a MUST SEE destination. Great pics !
Did you also tried to stick a knife between the rocks,
as all “good tourists” try to do ???
Wouldn’t dream of it. Plus, people who travel with just a carry-on bag generally don’t carry knives anymore.
Check Stephen Myers and this site: http://www.thepump.org/
His foundation believes the Great Pyramid was a water delivery system. Built like the Erie canal.
Really neat you are able to see this. Pictures are great.
Thanks. I asked Stephen Mehler about this (he was on the tour), and he recommends John Cadman instead: pyramid can be removed and the thing still functions. I haven’t looked into all the details.
