Our vet suggested a different dog food, one with less fat. She says less fat has solved skin problems of many dogs she knows, and ours is having issues.
The guy who sells the dog food displays it outside his house, fading bags in the full sun—who would buy that, knowing full well everything inside would be rancid? Turns out to be just a display. He gets a fresh bag from inside. Then gives me a refrigerator magnet, and say to call next time: he delivers for free, like many merchants here. I like that. I tell him my name’s Douglas, and there aren’t many of us in Uruguay.
He tells me his gardener’s name is Douglas.
Well, then.
Although I cannot remember the brand name, we had problems with dry dogfood that caused the puppies skin to flake and even fur to fall out. We switched. Not all brands are safe, it seems.
This came highly recommended by Mariana, and Mariana actually “educated” Bandido (he shut up for 24 hours after hanging out with her dogs), so I'm optimistic. We will see.
dogs are meant to eat meat, natural fats from the meat solve skin problems. the oils in dry dog food are usually rancid from sitting in warehouses and canola or corn based, and filled with glycophosates(roundup)..your skin would look like that too of thats all you ate. feed your dog meat and whatever veggies or fruit they will eat or like and they will stay healthy. I feed my retriever a pound and a half of meat a day. he's 10 yrs old, and he's been to the vet 3 times in his life to get his 3 year rabie shots. period. dogs are wolves. its their nature to eat meat, not some rancid, dry crunchy stuff. common sense.dogs are wolves.
“If you’re new to the idea of preparing fresh food for your dog, you may be wondering, “Well, if dogs are descendents of wolves, and wolves in the wild survive off of meat, then why don’t we just feed our dogs a diet of 100% meat? Why do they need veggies added at all? Isn’t that unnatural?”The answer is simple. Dogs are not wolves, and don’t have the same environmental conditions and genetic predispositions of normal wolves. Dogs have been domesticated for over 10,000 years, and their diet has varied dependent on the climate, location, and cultural inclinations of the people they have been raised around. We have also done amazing things in breeding our modern-day dogs to look drastically different from their wolf cousins, and a proper diet should also take into consideration the body structure and specific nutritional needs of each individual animal.”More from a holistic vet…https://www.drbasko.com/portfolio-items/can-feed-dog-100-meat/
